The Rendlesham Forest Incident: One Year On

Issue #36: December 1981

When we first reported on the Rendlesham Forest incident in Issue #25, details were fragmentary and official sources silent. One year of investigation has now established the full scope of what occurred. This is, beyond reasonable doubt, the most significant UFO case in British history.

In December 1980, United States Air Force personnel stationed at RAF Woodbridge encountered something in the forests of Suffolk that remains officially unexplained. Twelve months later, we can present a comprehensive account of the incident and its aftermath.

The Evidence

Through sources cultivated over the past year, we have obtained confirmation of a formal memorandum submitted by the Deputy Base Commander to the Ministry of Defence in January 1981. This document describes the events of 26 and 28 December in unambiguous terms.

The memorandum reportedly details a “strange glowing object” that was “metallic in appearance and triangular in shape.” It confirms that radiation measurements taken at the landing site showed levels “significantly higher than the surrounding area.”

The Ministry of Defence has declined to comment on the document’s existence.

The Complete Timeline

Our investigation has established the following sequence of events:

26 December, approximately 0300: Security personnel observe lights descending into the forest. A patrol led by a staff sergeant approaches a triangular craft on foot. He later describes touching its surface and observing hieroglyphic-like symbols etched into it.

26 December, daylight: The landing site is examined. Three circular depressions form a triangular pattern. Radiation readings are taken.

27 December: Base commanders review the reports. Personnel are instructed not to discuss the matter.

28 December, approximately 0100: Unusual lights return. The Deputy Base Commander leads a team into the forest, carrying a portable cassette recorder. Multiple luminous objects are observed projecting beams of light toward the ground.

The Witnesses

The men who entered Rendlesham Forest that Christmas were trained security specialists responsible for guarding one of NATO’s most sensitive installations. The staff sergeant who first approached the craft is described as a reliable professional who underwent psychological evaluation following the incident and was found sound. The Deputy Base Commander is a senior officer with an exemplary record.

These are not witnesses who can be easily dismissed.

The Cover-Up

Why has this incident received no official acknowledgement?

The bases involved are central to NATO’s nuclear deterrent. Acknowledging that unidentified craft could operate freely in the surrounding area would raise uncomfortable questions. Furthermore, admitting that military personnel witnessed extraordinary phenomena would contradict decades of official dismissal.

Yet the evidence accumulates. Documents exist. Recordings exist. Witnesses persist in their accounts despite pressure to remain silent.

One Year On

We enter December 1981 with certainty that something extraordinary occurred in Rendlesham Forest. The question of what it was remains unanswered. But the question of whether it happened is no longer in doubt.

This magazine will continue to investigate. We call upon any readers with information to come forward. The truth of Rendlesham Forest deserves to be known.
