The Rendlesham Forest Incident
Issue #25: January 1981
Breaking Report: As this issue goes to press, we are still gathering details of what may be the most significant UFO incident in British history. The following represents our initial findings.
Something extraordinary occurred in the forests of Suffolk during the Christmas period. United States Air Force personnel stationed at the twin NATO bases of RAF Woodbridge and RAF Bentwaters report encountering an unidentified craft under circumstances that defy conventional explanation.
The events took place over the nights of 26 and 28 December 1980. We are still establishing the full scope of what occurred, but the preliminary accounts from military sources are remarkable.
The First Night: 26 December
In the early hours of 26 December, security personnel at RAF Woodbridge observed unusual lights descending into Rendlesham Forest, which separates the two bases. Initial assumptions suggested a downed aircraft.
A patrol was dispatched to investigate. According to sources, what they found was not a crashed plane.
The patrol reportedly encountered a luminous craft resting in a small clearing. Descriptions indicate a metallic, triangular object approximately three metres across, mounted on legs. Strange symbols were visible on its surface. Blue and red lights pulsed around its perimeter.
The object was observed at close range before rising from the ground and departing at extraordinary speed, weaving between the trees.
At first light, investigators returned to examine the site. They found a triangular pattern of depressions where the object’s legs had rested, broken tree branches consistent with a vertical descent, and elevated radiation readings.
The Second Night: 28 December
Two nights later, the phenomenon returned.
This time, a senior officer led the investigation, entering the forest with a team after reports of strange lights. Our sources describe beams of light, apparently emanating from objects overhead, striking the ground near the observers. The lights appeared to respond to the investigators’ movements.
The officer reportedly documented the events in real time using a portable cassette recorder.
Official Response
As of publication, neither the United States Air Force nor the Ministry of Defence has issued any statement. Personnel at the bases have reportedly been advised not to discuss the matter.
This silence, combined with the credentials of the witnesses and the physical evidence, suggests that whatever occurred in Rendlesham Forest is being treated as highly sensitive.
What We Know
The facts as currently established:
Something was present in Rendlesham Forest on 26 December 1980 that left physical traces: ground depressions, damaged trees, and anomalous radiation readings.
Multiple trained military personnel observed phenomena they could not explain on both nights.
A senior officer made a contemporaneous audio recording of the second night’s events.
The official response has been suppression rather than explanation.
Developing Story
We are continuing to investigate this case and will provide fuller details in subsequent issues. We urge any readers with information about the Rendlesham incidents, or who witnessed unusual activity in Suffolk during the Christmas period, to contact us immediately.
Something landed in those woods. The question of what it was, and where it came from, may define the future of UFO research in Britain.
